Tangled

3D AnimationMany have been asking for a critique of ‘Tangled’ (‘Tangled’, 2010) since its premiere in Spain on February 4, so I leave mine here. As you can guess from the headline, I am not among the defenders of the latest product from the Disney factory, whose powerful publicity machine has made, even before it hit the cinemas, talk of a new animated classic, a conclusion that my apparently is complete nonsense (of course talking about a company called “classic” to everything that bears his signature, have the nose).

Understandably, the film has received a great box office, and the younger ones are bright (or the best they have ever seen), but I am convinced that those who did not start to see a movie a few years ago will agree me that does not stand comparison with titles inspired by the Disney label, nor with the demanding work of Ghibli and Pixar studios, which still remain committed to amaze with each new animated feature.

But also do not have to look at other houses, or go back to work as far back as’ Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs “(” Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, “1937) or ‘Sleeping Beauty’ (‘Sleeping Beauty’, 1959) even cite “Beauty and the Beast ‘(‘ Beauty and the Beast ‘, 1991) or’ Aladdin ‘(1992). Simply, the recent “Princess and the Frog ‘(‘ The Princess and the Frog ‘, 2009) exuded more charm and energy, without being great, clearly exceeds this’ Tangled’, one of the most lazy and complacent Seal Disney. But it takes the seal, and contains ingredients you would expect: a princess, a “witch” evil, an enchantment, a hero, animals behaving like humans, comedy, action, great musical accompaniment (signed by Alan Menken) and a great work of animation, more 3D, that people like novelty. That includes items just to excite the young audience, and a professional packing enough for the rest, with minimal expectations, to spend time more or less entertaining in a comfortable armchair.

ANIMATION FILMSJustin Timberlake and Mila Kunis have been responsible for awarding the Oscar for animation. As expected, ‘Toy Story 3′ Lee Unkrich was the winner in the category of best animated film of 2010. Hopefully not the last award that carries the latest gem from Pixar, remember, the best-reviewed films of last year.

It has also been given the Oscar for best animated short. The favorite was “Day & Night ‘Teddy Newton, also from the Pixar factory, but the winner was’ The Lost Thing’ by Shaun Tan and Andrew Ruhemann. I have not seen any of you do?

Day and Night

Animation Tips and InfoIn recent editions of the Hollywood awards for excellence, the animated film has had a major role. Not only because of the abundance of great titles that competition has been very high and very expensive Oscar, but for the high quality we are living in this genre. This year again a good example at high altitude: Pixar seems to be the favorite but it would be unfair to forget one of the great films of the year: ‘How to Train You is Dragon’ Dreamworks, and a little-known gem like ‘ L’Illusionniste ‘.

Something similar happens with younger siblings, the animated shorts. Pixar once again lead the list of nominees with great favor, but we cannot forget the rest, as they are magnificent pieces. And so let’s review the short animation Oscar candidate 2011. A high level.

This short part as a heavy favorite. Directed by Teddy Newton is one of those experiments Disney / Pixar in that test interesting ideas and techniques that could be integrated in future productions of feature films. ‘Day & Night’ is preceded with enormous relevance to the screening of “Toy Story 3 ‘is a masterful piece, where the combination of traditional animation and 3D come together perfectly. And all with a simple story but beautifully told. As Pixar and we are accustomed.

‘Madagascar, carnet de voyage’

This short of just eleven minutes of French production is directed by Bastien Dubois is one of the most successful year in the number of awards. It is perhaps, by some pools, which you can plant more expensive to Pixar in the face of Oscar. And the story of the journey of a traveler confronted European custom of famdihana (traditional celebration of Madagascar). According to the diary pages pass, the drawings come to life and the landscapes they travel to Madagascar and the customs of the Malagasy culture.
